Planet Ark joins LCA Conference Series
Planet Ark will join LCM Australia 2015, The 9th Australian Conference on Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) and Life Cycle Management (LCM), in Melbourne on 24th and 25th of November.
Hosted by the national peak body for LCA professionals, the Australian Life Cycle Assessment Society (ALCAS), the conference will feature Planet Ark’s Head of Research Dr Sean O'Malley.
Sean joined Planet Ark in 2007 and oversees Research and Development activities for the not-for-profit organisation working to improve environmental behaviour.
“We believe LCA is the best method to genuinely measure the environmental impact of a product or service,” said Sean. “Basically, LCA looks at every part of a product’s life and gives producers, manufacturers, regulators and consumers a clear picture of its impact. It helps to avoid misinformation and greenwash and identifies the hot spots for reducing impacts.”
“Planet Ark applies Life Cycle Thinking throughout its programmes, such as ‘Make it Wood’ and ‘Cartridges 4 Planet Ark’, to create positive environmental actions for everyone.”
Following a product's life cycle stages, from cradle-to-cradle, the LCA process examines the impacts on resource depletion, human health and ecosystem health.

The ALCAS 2015 Conference Series also features AgriFoodLCA, The 1st Life Cycle Assessment Conference for Agriculture and Food, and AusBuildLCA, The 1st Life Cycle Assessment Conference for Building and Construction.
